Executive Certificate for Tourism Professionals
The Destination Leaders Programme is a transformational investment for you, your business and your destination. The 4th year of the programme is based in Aberdeenshire and Tayside starting from October 2016 and running until April 2017.
This innovative programme is funded by Scottish Enterprise
, working alongside the Scottish tourism industry and delivered by Edinburgh Napier University. The first 3 programmes have been delivered to 60 participants from Edinburgh, Fife, Argyll & Isles and Glasgow.
Effective leadership is consistently identified as a key driver of growth for all business sectors, but tourism faces particular challenges, given the range, scale and mix of businesses that need to work together to deliver a great customer experience.
Based on an internationally acclaimed initiative originating from Melbourne, Australia, the DLP is designed to address this issue, identify emerging tourism leaders and provide them with the skills, knowledge and networks that they need to become effective destination leaders.
The DLP provides a unique mix of:
- Academic learning
- Practical case studies
- Local, national and international site visits
- Group project development and practice based learning
- Peer to peer networking
Participating in the DLP will:
- Develop your skills, capabilities and self-awareness as an individual leader
- Improve the performance of your business
- Provide you with the knowledge and skills to work effectively as destination leader
- Give you access to international best practise, insights and networks
- Position you in an alumni of recognised leaders in the tourism industry
